June's city budget process is shaping up to be an interesting and important one.

Like many of you, today as we gather with family and friends, we honor the brave men and women of our armed forces, as well as civic volunteers, who generously give of themselves to make our country safer and provide better lives for others.

Everyone these days is concerned about balancing your family’s or your business’ budget. As a Houston City Council member and a Houstonian, I’m also very concerned about our city’s finances as we head into the next fiscal year on July 1.

I am running for Houston City Controller to bring a level of transparency to the office that has never before existed. You should know where your money is going and I will show you.
